JOB SUMMARY


The Quality Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for applying engineering knowledge to improving the quality of products manufactured by Sciemetric.  This position will work closely with the Manufacturing Engineer and R&D Department as well as the manufacturing group.  The incumbent will perform detailed root cause analysis and develop corrective actions, document and present on quality issues, perform maintenance tasks on existing product lines (sourcing components, cost reduction), develop manufacturing process improvements as well as maintain current and developing new test plans and test procedures. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform detailed root cause analysis and develop corrective actions for hardware products
  • Assess and report on the quality control of manufactured products
  • Assist service department with solving customer issues
  • Assist, implement and document Engineering Change Notices (ECN)
  • Work with R&D and manufacturing to establish fit/form/function alternatives for components as needed
  • Examine manufacturing processes and recommend improvements and efficiencies
  • Maintain and design test procedures and test plans
  • Debug logic and analog boards manufactured in production
  • Develop technical manuals and user guides
  • Assist with Schematic and PCB layout
  • Assist with logic design and development
  • Develop drawings and documentation using CAD
  • Analyze product BOM’s, drawings, etc. looking opportunities to cost reduce manufactured product

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Electrical Engineering degree OR 3 year Electronic Technologist Diploma
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience in a high tech manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with low level precision analog voltages e.g. 1 µV resolution
  • Hands on experience with designing and building test jigs for manufacturing tests
  • Good  hands on understanding of op amps, inductors, capacitors, logic, PCI, analog signals, ground loops
  • Experience using sensors such as: pressure sensors, load cells, accelerometers, pneumatics, torque transducers, LVDT’s, Piezo electronics
  • Experience working with various functional groups through the full product life cycle from R&D to final manufacture of product
  • Basic PC skills, e.g. working with motherboards, power supplies, hard disks
