JOB SUMMARY

As the head of the Validation Department, this position works closely with our Innovation and Product Design Team as well as the Hardware and Software Development Teams to ensure Sciemetric solutions meet the high demands and expectations of our global manufacturing customers.  In this leadership role, duties will include managing validation personnel, verifying compliance with requirements, systems integration, optimization and regression testing of our products. Using knowledge gained from industry experience, this person will put into place an effective validation process consisting of a blend of automation and manual testing.  This person will be required to work a minimum of 50% hands on with a strong emphasis on pc based software with an understanding of data acquisition and signal processing.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Management and Leadership skills: a minimum of 3 years of experience as a lead or manager in a validation team or, in a software department with an emphasis on validation is required. Since this department functions as the final gate before the product goes to the customer, this position requires an extremely vigilant and assertive person. Duties:
        - Manage products from successful build stage to customer release stage
        - Work in a dynamic team environment and effectively manage validation resources in this environment
        - Ability to organize, plan and prioritize validation tasks, clearly understanding area of risks and managing accordingly.
        - Must be able to work with minimal supervision and resourcefully get things done
        - Good verbal and written communicator
  • Validation and Release Responsibilities: a minimum of 5 years of hands on experience implementing test strategies and methodologies to ensure product(s) fully meet all functional, performance, and environmental requirements provided by the Marketing and Product Design Team.
        - Plan, document and execute Configuration Management,  Test Plans and Test Cases beginning at the design and requirements phase
        - Use of automated testing tools, scripting languages, and other methods to automate for efficiency, regression, and performance testing.
        - Develop, maintain and document processes and best practices in keeping with internal and external standards
        - Monitor, assess and report on Validation activities
        - Set-up, manage and maintain validation lab
        - Set-up, manage and maintain long term testing
        - Manage product releases
  • Other Duties:
        - Management of technical support

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree in Computer Science/Engineer,  Electrical/Electronics Engineering or other Engineering discipline with relevant experience
  • Expert knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
        - managing and performance tuning of Windows based client-server systems including SQL and IIS with both thick and thin clients
        - SQL dba,
        - UI Design/Interface
        - Networking, Software security set-up and methods
  • Working knowledge in C#, C, C++ and .NET environment
  • Working knowledge of:
        - Windows operating systems XP, XPe, Win 7, Server 2003/2008
        - Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008, basic dba and querying
        - Web technology: IIS, html
        - Network TCP/IP protocol network topology and security
        - Personal computers
  • Working knowledge of Software Tools:
        - Microsoft development environment e.g. Visual Studio
        - Source control and revision management software e.g. Perforce
        - Automated testing tools such as “TestComplete” by SmartBear Software or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of methods;
        - Unit and NUnit, black box/white box testing
        - Agile/Scrum
  • Basic hardware knowledge in the area of:
        - Data acquisition: digital signal processing

 

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS

  • Manufacturing:
        - Knowledge of industrial hard and soft fieldbus networks and communications protocols e.g. profibus, Interbus, DeviceNet, OPC, EthernetIP, ProfiNet
        - Experience in industrial manufacturing
