Sciemetric has designed advanced defect detection, analysis and traceability solutions to help engine manufacturers achieve their quality objectives. Our solutions enable engine manufacturers to improve the quality of the engines, reducing issues such as noise, vibration and harshness and enhancing the production process by increasing throughput and first time through (FTT).

In-Process Testing (IPT) for engine assembly:

Sciemetric's Engine In-Process Test Solutions allow engine manufacturers to experience immediate improvements to their assembly quality. They ensure that engine manufacturers detect manufacturing defects as early as possible in the assembly process, which eliminates the need for hot- testing.

The Engine IPT suite includes critical tests such as:

  •  Short Block Crank Torque to Turn Test
  •  Short Block Verification System
  •  Oil Cavity and Coolant Cavity Leak Test System
  •  Long Block Verification System
  •  Cold Test System

Engine Noise Vibration Harshness (NVH) Test System:

Sciemetric's 3510 Engine NVH Test System uses sophisticated signature analysis software to accurately identify noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) related faults. Problems that often go unnoticed during traditional testing, such as incorrect cam timing, missing bearings and gear noise can be detected in real time on the plant floor with the Sciemetric engine NVH solution. Repairs can be made before the engine is hot tested or shipped to customers, saving production costs and reducing the risks of expensive warranty repairs.

QualityWorX® Part History and Traceability System:

Sciemetric's QualityWorX® software provides rich birth history data and robust traceability to help engine manufacturers manage their process before, during and after assembly.

  • Pre-Assembly: Use the advanced analysis features of QualityWorX® to determine the optimal test limits for each test along the assembly process to minimize false accepts and false rejects.
  • During Assembly: QualityWorX® collects and archives comprehensive test result data across the engine assembly process. Using the robust analysis features of QualityWorX®, engine manufacturers can evaluate the impact of a process change and effectively ensure that the assembly process is under control and that productivity is maximized.
  • Post Production: QualityWorX® is a powerful tool for engine manufacturers to minimize the cost and risk involved with warranty claims. The comprehensive data available in QualityWorX® provides full birth history and traceability allowing engine manufacturers to demonstrate adherence to specifications and proactively reduce the size of a recall.
